Today, the first phase of the trip starts. My flight to Frankfurt is in a few hours. It is hard to believe that after so much thinking and planning it is all beginning to roll now. A message went out last night to friends and family with instructions on how to check progress on our satellite tracking webpage (http://share.findmespot.com/shared/faces/viewspots.jsp?glId=000Jzu7jtPV3qvqBsnFgl4YOpbWik3H2v) and how to get to this blog.
So, here I go onto the first phase -- from Frankfurt to Istanbul -- while Alexandra finishes college. I will be back for her graduation and then we both fly back to Istanbul in June to start the second phase ... the long way across Asia!
This adventure has turned out to be more than just an adventure. I have come to realize that this will, most likely, be life-defining.
